As a social work student, I was lucky enough to complete my placement at Bonnie Support Services. During my time here, I had the privilege of working with some amazing people and learning from a passionate team who are dedicated to supporting women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness. From my very first day here, I was welcomed into an environment built on compassion, respect and empowerment.

Over the past few months, I gained hands-on experience in case management, client support and advocacy. Not only did I observe, but I also participated in intake assessments, safety planning and linking clients with essential resources such as housing or financial support. One of the most rewarding parts of my placement was being able to build trust with clients and witness their strength and resilience.

The Bonnie’s team has taught me that social work is not only about practical support, but also about working alongside clients, listening without judgement and helping them find hope in difficult circumstances. I’m so grateful to have completed my final placement here and for the opportunity to have learned from such experienced practitioners. My time at Bonnie’s has been an incredibly meaningful chapter in my journey towards becoming a social worker and I am very excited for what’s to come.
