The Unseen Arts Hub

Giving Voice and Strength to Homeless Women

The Unseen Arts Hub, a remarkable initiative that brings together a collective of women who have experienced homelessness. Through the power of art, conversation, and workshops, they share stories with the world, aiming to raise awareness and drive meaningful change.

For the past four years, the Unseen Arts Hub has been actively engaged in inner and western Sydney, as well as rural areas of NSW, sparking conversations and fostering understanding about the realities of homelessness. Their platform provides a space for women to express themselves creatively, offering a glimpse into their lived experiences.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), the issue of homelessness remains a significant challenge in our society. Shocking statistics reveal that on Census night in 2021, an estimated 122,494 people were experiencing homelessness. Among them, 55.9% were male, and 44.1% were female, with a troubling 23.0% falling within the age range of 12 to 24 years (ABS, 2021).

As a participant in the Unseen Arts Hub, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of our community gatherings. Through sharing our stories, we aim to inspire and provide guidance to those who attend our events. Whether it’s through an uplifting piece of art, a heartfelt conversation, or a supportive workshop, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

To the driving force behind Unseen, Belinda Mason, and all the incredible women who contribute their voices and talents, I express my deepest gratitude. Your unwavering support and dedication have given strength to those who need it most. Together, we celebrate resilience, creativity, and the power of community.

In my own words:

“When I was feeling low, you gave me strength.

When I needed to understand, you gave me guidance.

When I needed to talk, you gave me voice.

When I rejoiced, you celebrated me.

You held space.

To you Belinda Mason and the women of UNSEEN, I say Thank You x”
